Education Requirement: 

  • Master’s degree in library/information science from an ALA- accredited program. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in metadata creation, cataloging, and/or electronic resource management in an academic or research library setting; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using cataloging tools such as OCLC Connexion, OCLC Record Manager, and MarcEdit.
  • Knowledge of current cataloguing trends, rules, standards, and controlled vocabularies including RDA, LC Classification, and LCSH.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with MARC21 and metadata creation for digital collections.
  • Ability to work in a team-based setting where consultation, flexibility, collaboration, cooperation, and resilience are essential.
  • Experience working with an integrated library system, preferably Ex Libris ALMA, as well as knowledge of other non-MARC metadata schemas.
  • Understanding of DEI/DEIB/DEIA issues and ability to effectively interact with diverse populations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in legal cataloging and classification.
  • Experience with non-MARC metadata such as DCMI or MODS and/or experience with XML schemas and XSLT.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and/or formal training in project management, workflow optimization, or continuous quality improvement.

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
